American White Pelican

The American White Pelican belongs to the order Pelecaniformes and is a huge aquatic soaring bird. In the winter, it migrates south and to the coasts, even as far as Costa Rica, from its breeding grounds in interior North America. I took this photo at White Rock Lake.
